VX Compressor ("we", "the app") is an Android app that compresses videos, images, PDFs and audio. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used. By using VX Compressor you agree to this policy.
1. Your files stay on your device
All compression runs entirely on your device and works offline. The files you compress are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or any third party.
- The app reads only the files you choose with Android's system file picker (or files you share to the app). It does not scan your storage.
- Compressed files are saved to the folder you choose (by default Movies, Pictures, Music or Documents / VX Compressor).
- Your original files are never modified or deleted.
2. Compression history
The app keeps a history of your compressions (file names, sizes, settings, and output locations) only on your device. File contents are never stored in it. You can clear it at any time in Settings → Clear history.
3. Permissions we request
- Notifications — to show compression progress while the app is in the background.
- Foreground service — to keep a compression you started running when you leave the app.
- Storage (Android 9 and older only) — to save compressed files to your public folders.
- Internet — only for the Google services listed below. Your files are never sent over the network.
4. Data collected by third-party services
The app uses the following Google services, which may collect data as described in their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports) — if the app crashes or a compression fails, anonymous technical details such as device model, Android version, app version, the error, and the media format (codec, resolution, duration, size) are sent so we can fix bugs. File names, file contents and file locations are never included. Crash reporting is on by default and can be turned off in Settings → Send crash reports.
- Firebase Remote Config — used to switch app features on or off remotely. It may process an app instance identifier.
- Google AdMob (advertising, if enabled) — may collect your advertising ID, device information and app-usage signals to serve and measure ads. Ads are never shown during compression.
See the Firebase Privacy notice, Google Ads Privacy and the AdMob policy.
We do not collect names, email addresses, or accounts. VX Compressor has no login.
5. Advertising ID
If ads are shown, AdMob uses your device's advertising ID. You can reset or delete it in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
6. Children
VX Compressor is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
7. Data retention & security
We store no personal data on our own servers. Crash reports and any data handled by AdMob or Firebase are retained under Google's policies.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
